Grand Opening

After the success of the launch of The Box, OCC Fashion’s Pop Up Shop this past Spring 2018, Michelle Craner and Fashion 225 students were extremely excited to get The Box open for the Fall 2018 semester. October 1st marked the reopening of the Box pop-up shop, with OCC alumni Paul Frank with his new project PF Workshops! Students from all over campus flocked to the grand opening to grab Paul Frank’s favorite OCC meal: a grilled cheese and a pickle. That week OCC Fashion presented, “Welcome Home Paul Frank” where Paul Frank shared a gimps into his “Workshop”.  The Box was a museum like experience where paul shared his collection of all things Paul Frank. One of the Highlights was the Group Chats where Paul shared many items he designed along with insights into his design process. Students loved seeing his sock monkey from when he was a kid, his first sewing machine, and the first bag he designed. Other highlights included the “She Loves Me” book reading at the OCC Children’s Center followed by book signing and sale at The Box.  Yet another success for The Box!

What’s Next

As of right now the OCC Fashion Department runs The Box with the help of students, and OCC Fashion industry partners. Some of the brands coming for the Fall 2018 semester following P.F. Workshop are Vans  October 22-25, 5.11 Tactical November 5-8, Crossroads Trading Co. November 26-28, and Known Supply December 3-6.  The Box is a great asset at OCC for Fashion students as well as all students across campus. The Box has proven to be a successful learning lab for a variety of classes throughout the year.  Whatever the future holds,  OCC and its students will never stop thinking inside The Box.
